This jar is probably Mt. Washington Glass Crown Murano but unmarked except for the numbers 2040 508. The metal band and handle is also unmarked but probably quadruple plate, I did not try to clean it. No chips, no cracks, no wear on the hand painted design and no lid. Still a wonderful piece and from what I could find out about this type of piece is that the lid was probably metal. Definitely a Victorian piece from around 1900 but could be earlier. The base is glass and the glass base has a diameter of 5 inches. Beautifully hand painted and with an embossed floral pattern as well. It measures 2 3/8 inches to top of band and 6 inches to the top of the handle.
