Rails Across the Midlands is a pictorial anthology of steam railroading in the grand manner. It embraces the Midlands - industrial heartland of America. From cover to cover this book highballs the steam locomotive with more than 170 action-filled photographs covering the New York Central, Pennsylvania, Baltimore & Ohio, Nickle Plate, Chesapeake & Ohio, Wabash and many other lines. Also illustrated are the mighty electric powered coal trains which rolled over rails of the Norfolk & Western and the Virginian. Adding a little nostalgic romance are illustrations of famous name passenger trains like Twentieth Century Limited, the Mercury Detroit Arrow and the Golden Triangle. This 1964 First Edition book contains 144 pages, measures 9" in width by 11 1/4" tall and was published by Golden West Books, San Marino, California. Except for some very slight bumping to the corners of the dust jacket this book is in near fine condition with all the pages intact, tight, bright and clean.
