This is a story of a candy train (Chicago - San Francisco) as told by Lucius Beebe, in his inimitable way, it is freighted with anecdotes about the great and famous who boarded this train. Among them were Dame Nellie Melba, Gertrude Atherton, Scott Newhall, Dorothy Liebes, Fritz Kreisler, Caruso, Jake Erlich, and great galaxies of movie stars. This was the train, more than any other, represented the "Wild West" with all the implications of Buffalo Bill, Wells Fargo and the Overland Trail. An adventurous story, as the lavish pictorial contents attests. This 1963 First Edition book contains 157 pages, 225 delightful illustrations and 3 pages of railroad art in full color, measures 9" in width by 11 1/4" tall and was published by Howell-North Books, Berkeley, California Except for two tears along the upper and lower edges of the back of the dust jacket this book is in near fine condition with all the pages intact, tight, bright and clean
