Folklore, legends, myths, and fairy tales have followed children through the ages, and the winged fairies of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson have brought happiness to childish hearts everywhere. However, with this book "The New Wizard of Oz" the time has come for a series of newer "wonder tales in which the stereotyped genie, dwarf and fairy are eliminated, together with all the horrible and blood-curdling incidents devised by their authors to provide a fearsome moral to each tale. This 1903 book consisting of 208 pages was published by The Bobbs - Merrill Company, Indianapolis, USA and written by L. Frank Baum and illustrated with black and white and colored plates by W.W. Denslow. Except for some fading to the green cloth cover due to the sun this book is in near fine condition with all the pages intact, tight, bright and clean, The front paper flap bears the inscription "To Gordon...Oct 5, 1939...With best wishes for a very happy birthday...Agnes Hayes. A book which aspires to being a modernized fairy tale, in which wonderment and joy are retained and the heart-aches and nightmares are left out.
