The crystal and the back screws off allowing easy access to the face and movement. The movement serial number reads 3,268,964 dating the watch to 1898 and it is marked Ingersoll Trenton.
The case is marked "Keystone Watch Case Guaranteed Genuine Silveroid" and serial number "311, 891" dating the case to the same period.
Silveroid, a white metal alloy, was invented in 1894. It was a popular metal for watch cases because it had the soft hue of Platinum and didn't tarnish or wear like Sterling.
The watch is a tad over 2" in diameter and in very good antique condition, there is a little age related crazing to the porcelain but it does not detract.
