I will be back home in England from 16th Dec until 4th Jan so please any Christmas orders place early. Layaway IS available!
Typically French in the neoclassical Sevres style they are beautifully painted and gilded.
They have some condition issues that is reflected in the asking price. Much of the gilding has worn off on the base and the rope swags, luckily the central decor panels are pretty much in tact.
At some point a long time ago someone has filled the bottoms with a cement/sand type of material. As it has expanded it has caused discolored cracks (please refer to images) however it has served to stabilize the vases, they are extremely heavy and rugged, and cannot be damaged easily.
Cosmetically the vases can be greatly improved with a ceramic paint touch up to the gilding and cracks or they would be worth having restored professionally. I would not attempt to remove the cement without expert advise.
With or without restoration they are a magnificent pair. Size is 10" high and 8" across and together they weigh 11lbs.
The base is impressed with 1801 which is likely the date of production. Design and decoration wise they are absolutely typical of the period.
Shipping weight will be around 15lbs and we will use the most economical mailing method to save on costs.
