Fabulous Egyptian Revival brooch: the sacred vulture, attributed to the vulture goddess Nekhbet, the goddess of protection, especially for women in childbirth. Wings spread with the typical Czech colors combined: red, green, blue in the 3 small rhinestones at the center of the bird. Circa 1930's. This beautiful brooch represents the sacred vulture as a majestic shield with 5 dangling findings that may represent jars. In excellent condition, this brass pin has the patina that one would expect from an item with this age and yet, I'm confident saying it's in excellent condition. The clasp was added at a slight angle - that's original to the brooch. A wonderful piece of jewelry steeped in Egyptian mythology.
