A characteristic feature of Fedoskino miniature painting is a combination of direct painting with glazes superimposed over a gold leaf or mother-of-pearl plaque. This Russian artisan piece is a hand painted portrait of Peter the Great on a substantial piece of mother of pearl in a silver bezelled frame. This is a beautiful piece of curved mother of pearl. Signed by the artist and dated 1993, this piece identifies the subject of the portrait (in Russian). Measures 2" x 1-12". Very collectible. In excellent condition.
