Desk Accessory: Hershey - Derby Connecticut. A painted metal swan on a black plastic base with a red veined marbled mechanical pencil set in a brass holder. Beautiful 2-5/8 inch pencil may have once had a cap at one end. This item is "as found". Derby is Connecticut's smallest city, as cited on the "Welcome to Derby, Connecticut" signs when entering the city. If you check out the Derby website, you may fall in love with Derby. A lot of industrial and artistic excitement over the years. There still is a Hershey Metal Company on the outskirts of Derby, CT. I can't be sure if it's the same Hershey Co. I would think it is. Back to the item... you'll love this little metal swan desk accessory. The mechanical pencil is a marbled, red veined design, so popular in the 20's and 30's. Black base measures 2-3/8 inches square. Three old screws hold the swan and the brass holder in place. The base and the pencil are marked Hershey Derby, Conn. Sweet writing accessory.
