A hand painted, rotating and lever magic lantern slide, c1860, with the classic Sleeping Man and Rat theme. The slide shows a man in bed, his mouth moves up and down whilst the rat slowly rotates to climb up the side of the bed, into the man's mouth. It is in excellent condition with no damage to the glasses. There is no discolouration and the colours are fresh and strong. The glasses are set into a mahogany mount, with brass mechanical parts. A classic slide, which would be part of the entertainment in the mid 19th century. It is still in good useable condition
