A rare and excellent 1/6 plate American tintype of a man and a high wheeler bicycle.

From the late 1880s, the image has an excellent view of a high wheeler cycle of the period, together with the rider in his cycling clothes. You can also see the photographer's stand supporting the subject from behind.

It is very sharp and strong, with excellent contrast and detail.

The surface of the tin is very good, but there is some minor buckling to the plate, but this does not detract from a super image.

The image is mounted in a leather covered half case with a floral mat and keeper, which is overglazed.

There is no indication of the subject nor the photographer.

A good sized, finely executed and unusual tintype, which will be of interest to collectors of Vintage Bicycles, High Wheelers, Vintage Tricycles and Bike Memorabilia.
