This is another vintage Days of the Week cameo set, probably from about the 1950’s, still in its original box and with the original leaflet, giving details of the gods and goddesses portrayed on the bracelet. It is in excellent condition, and is set in 800 silver (marked on the reverse of the pendant and earrings and of the bracelet clasp), with hand-carved shell cameos. It was made by Bartoli & Russo, Jewelry Manufacturers and Wholesalers, 71-56 Via Cilea, Naples, Italy. ‘Days of the Week’ bracelets are very collectible, and it is hard to find a complete set still in its original packaging. Each oval link of the bracelet depicts the god or goddess identified with that day of the week, riding in chariots pulled by their ‘special’ animals. From left to right, these are Monday – Diana, Goddess of the Chase; Tuesday – Mars, God of War; Wednesday – Mercury, God of Commerce; Thursday – Jupiter, Father of the Gods; Friday – Venus, Goddess of Beauty and Love; Saturday – Saturn, Eldest of the Gods; and Sunday – Apollo, God of the Sun and of Music. The screw-back earrings and pendant all have a carving of a cloaked standing figure, who I am guessing is Venus, as she has doves fluttering in front of her. The cameos are all surrounded by decorative gold twisted wire. This is a delicately made, light-weight set, which would be perfect for day-time wear, and also, of course, very pretty for the evening. The bracelet is 7 ½ inches long with a safety-chain and a push-in clasp; the pendant is just over ¾ inch long and has a 19 inch chain. The little dangling earrings are 7/8 inch long.
