SOLD Antique 18" AM 370. Fantastic Fashion Outfit and Wig.

This pretty girl was named Matilda by a previous owner who made this fantastic outfit especially for her. Pinned at the bottom of the skirt was a card which comes with her which reads: The Paris Collection. "Matilda" Opera or Promenade Ensemble Circa 1860-1870's. This outfit was modeled from outfits from that period. It's made from a deep green, iridescent taffeta material with layers of ruffles trimmed in bronze cording. The jacket is bustled in the back and the doll is wearing a padded bustle under her clothing. Both the jacket and skirt are sewn closed and I did not want to clip the threads to take the clothing off for fear of ruining the outfit. Under this wonderful outfit, Matilda is wearing a beautiful antique full slip and pantaloons. The slip ties at the waist with ribbons and the pantaloons have ribbon ties at the ankle. Both pieces are trimmed in beautiful antique lace. She is wearing white leather boots with 3 blue/green buttons which may have been made by the costumer.

The doll itself is just gorgeous with blue sleep eyes which have their original eye wax. Her body is pink cloth which is pin jointed at the hips and gusseted at the knees. Each knee has a tiny area where the stitching has separated and there is a very small amount of sawdust leakage from those areas. A stitch or two at each gusset would take care of the leakage. Her lower arms are bisque and I believe the upper arms are pink cloth again. The sleeves are tight so I was unable to push them up without damaging the cloth underneath, but I can feel that both arms are firmly stuffed and securely connected at the shoulder.

Matilda's head is in perfect condition, free of cracks or hairlines. There is a small nose rub right at the tip of her nose. Her human hair wig is just fabulous and is styled in the style of the French Fashions with an upswept back and tiny curls along the nape of her neck, and tiny flowers at the crown. She is marked as shown in my photo.
