SALE ABG Tinted Bisque Doll with Glass Eyes

Some years ago, I contacted a doll study group in Europe about this doll. The consensus was that she was an ABG with a fairly rare mold number. She is marked as shown, with the numbers 31 on the left and a 6 on the right. There is also a stamped number 8 on the back of the shoulder plate. Her shoulderplate has the distinctive ABG molding with the creases on the front near the sew holes. She is tinted bisque rather than Parian as there is some coloring to her bisque.

Her hairstyle is what I would call a modified 'Highland Mary' style with masses of deeply molded curls surrounding the sides and back of her head. The back is finely molded with deep comb marks in the hair. There is one spot of discoloration on one of the curls. It is not a chip or a rub and may come off. I have never tried to remove it.

She stands 20" tall and is on a very heavy, tightly stuffed body. The body, though vintage, is not her original. The lower bisque arms and legs are very nicely molded, and I'm certain the legs are replacements but the arms look antique to me.

Her head is in excellent condition with gorgeous high colored cheeks. She has feathered, multi-stroke brows, painted lashes and a nicely defined mouth. She has beautiful blue, spiral threaded paperweight eyes. One of the eyes is cracked across the iris. The crack is stable and the eye is secure. It is barely noticeable unless inspecting her closely.

She comes dressed as you see her in a long, window-pane christening gown.
