REDUCED All Original K & K 18" German Bisque Head Character Baby Doll.

This K&K antique doll has the most adorably impish face. She was manufactured by the K & K Toy Company of New York in the early 1900's. Many of the bisque heads were made by Kestner for K&K and this one does have many of the Kestner characteristics. She has sweet blue sleep eyes, feathered brows and a beautifully painted mouth with 2 tiny upper teeth. The painting of the upper lip is done in the upturned corner Kestner style.

Her clothing, mohair wig, body, eyeset and eyewax are completely original, and she's in wonderful condition. Her body is unusual in that it's cloth with composition lower arms and oilcloth stuffed legs which are hinged at the hip. Again, this is her original body.

Her clothing consists of pantaloons and shirt, a light blue full slip, her dress and hat. The clothing all has some light staining and the dress has a small hole under one arm.

Her bisque is in beautiful condition....no rubs, chips or hairlines. There is a mold flaw on one side of her neck. It is slightly darkened and looks like a scratch in the surface of the bisque. This is not damage, per se, but is very definitely a mold flaw.

Her wig is very tightly glued down. Rather than try to remove it, I would prefer to loosen one of the ties on the shoulderplate and stuff it from the bottom.

She's marked as shown on the back of the shoulderplate. The wording under the cording is "Thuringia".
