Made by Bromwell MFG. This is American wire, not that this matters! The history of wire is fascinating. Wire making is over 300 years old. Originating in the Central European areas, this became known as a nation of tinkers and hard-working people whose craftsmanship was highly valued and much appreciated through out Europe and America. It is nice to know where an item is from. It is extensive research with old catalogs. This compote was called a fruit basket in the late 1800's. In the early 1900's it called a comport. By the 1020's people were calling it a compote. This is in good condition. It has two loop handles. All wire is twisted. It is six inches tall and 8 3/4 close to 9 inches in diameter. This wire piece was in a photo shoot for the April edition of Martha Stewart Living.
