This is a very old and rare Belleek Willets tankard shaped mug. It is very rare in the shape, and design. Please note the form of the art deco handle, and straight up and down sides of the mug. The art deco movement dates from 1900 - 1935. While the stork is art nouveau (1890 - 1914) in shape with long sinuous movement these periods did cross over for a period.

How unusual to see a design of storks delivery babies as a motif. This stork and baby theme circles around the top of the mug. The exterior color is a pretty soft aqua blue, while the interior is a creamy white. The stork is white in color and the baby blanket is a gentle pale yellow. The gold gilt trim is in excellent condition.

This mug measures 4 1/2" high by 4 1/2" across at the handle and the base is 3 1/2" across. There are NO chips, crazing or hairlines.

This is an excellent example of an early rare design by Willets Belleek. While light hearted in theme, it is unusual and a high quality piece of porcelain.
