This little tin plate is advertising "Quick Meal Ranges", originally made in Missouri. The graphics are clear and clean and the colors are bright. Nice rare little piece.

Quick Meal Ranges, Chicks, St. Louis, Mo., Oval, 4 1/2" X 3 1/4 ". Marked on the rim OHIO ART, Byran, OHIO

CONDITION: great pre-owned condition, please see the pictures.

SIZE: 4 1/2". Perhaps used on the stove to hold the long spent wooden match.

HISTORY: The beginning of the Quick Meal stove was in St. Louis, Missouri, when John Rigen, a German immigrant, started a tin shop in 1850.

Sometime is 1870 he partnered with George Kahle and together they formed a business selling cooking stoves and washing machines. They called the cook stoves "quick meals", always a good marketing ploy to the woman of the house.
