Wonderful vintage peacock chenille bedspread. The background design has a different look than most of the peacock spreads out there, and it is lovely!

I have shown this bedspread on a high queen sized bed with a pillow top. Fine for a double bed or queen size bed with a bedskirt.

Background color is vintage jadeite green with a hint or bluish tone. The peacock is in red, yellow and purple chenille. The edge is white fringe. The 2 flowers at the top will sit squarely over your pillows, but I did not display it that way.

CONDITION: I see no rips, stains or missing chenille. There are a couple of longer fringe pieces on the edge. Its minor and I only mention for accuracy.

SIZE: Spread measures 90" wide by 97" long.

HISTORY: These older chenille spreads have a captivating history. From the 1930's til the 1950's, there was a stretch of highway going through Georgia that was referred to as Peacock Alley. Travelers from the East Coast on their way South to vacation in Florida, would see these colorful handmade chenille bedspreads hanging on clotheslines. The local ladies had found a new way to market their gorgeous bright peacock chenille bedspreads and an important cottage industry was born.
