Noritake produced this pattern ca. 1891, and it has been discontinued. The pattern itself is sometimes called Mystery # 40 by Noritake. It features peacocks or the bird of paradise in blues and yellows with scattered pink and white flowers and green leaves. Some collectors casually call this pattern Peacock, which adds to the confusion. It is a fine white bone china with a delicately executed design. This little toothpick holder is just darling. It shows two stylish women in revealing clothing and a cupid. It is marked Germany 224 on the bottom; and the numbers 34 409 are impressed under the glaze. Very interesting early piece! So sorry about the glare from my flash. I will add more pictures once it is sunny outside to avoid the glare. SIZE: It is 2 ¼” high and 1 5/8" across. CONDITION: No chips, no flakes, no cracks. Great pre-owned condition. This is a lovely 5 piece Antique Nippon Nut Set c.1906 . It includes a Nippon Hand painted porcelain master nut bowl and 4 individual bowls. I have also seen these called fruit sets, so they have versatility. They are gold trimmed with pink and red roses inside, while the outside is white with a single pink rose.
