End of the day catalin brooch is definitely unique. Black catalin twisted and formed into a figure eight, impressed with amber, green and clear chatons, then topped off with silver crystals. This looks like licorice! Measures 1 3/4" by 3". Pinback is in good working order. I tested this for Bakelite with a testing pad, and it tested positive, but it doesn't feel heavy enough to me for Bakelite, so I believe it is catalin for sure. Definitely a thermoplastic.
