18K Etruscan Revival Earrings c1860

We are very pleased to offer this very fine pair of antique Etruscan revival gold earrings in a hemisphere shape dating to the mid 19th century. Decorated around the mid section with heavy granulation work is a repeating Greek Anthemion motif. These exquisite earrings test 14k-15K gold with a heavy 18K gold matte finish. The top, from which the drop is suspended is a pear shape element which is also decorated with the Etruscan gold work and has a post back. Often we see this style in gilt but seldom in carat gold and have never seen a pair with the classic Anthemion design. The condition is very good, all original, showing one minor ding to the top of one sphere and three flakes to the 18K layer, exposing the under layer on the same earring. In my photo it appears to be far deeper than it is in reality. The dark circular spots are merely reflections; I had a very difficult time getting pictures to truly represent these gorgeous earrings. The overall length is 7/8" long and 1/2" in diameter. Ready to wear and sure to be a favorite!
