SALE Exceptional 14K Micromosaic Brooch ~ St. Peter's Square & Vatican

We are very pleased to offer this exceptional micromosaic depicting St. Peter’s Square and the Vatican, circa 1860. Set in a marked 14K Egyptian Revival gold mounting with a classic rope border, pinstem and safety clasp which are later than the micromosaic itself, but with the design of the period. This mosaic is a true work of art, with the tesserrae pieces measuring than a millimeter. Overall condition is very good; there is some very minor wear to the edges of the black frame, a very faint hairline at the edge which does not go through to the other side at the 9:00 position and there may be one piece of tesserrae missing, none of which compromises this rare piece. Measures 1 1/2" by 1 1/4".
