The flowing blue pattern with florals, 'shield' and 'cartouche' style aspects is stunning and lies over embossed pattern of the platter. There are traces of gold around the edge. Flip it over, and you can see the blue coming through the white underside.
MONARCH was a pattern produced by the Myott company in England, however their name is NOT present in the mark!
The mark on the bottom is excellent! Clear and readable!: "Monarch", a crown, The Montreal Crockery Co. Limited, England & Canada, Semi Porcelain. There is also an impressed '2'.
Measuring 14 1/4 inches long by 11 inches wide, this medium sized platters edges sit 1 1/2 inches from the table top.
The Montreal Crockery Company was in business from 1906 through to 1932 which makes this platter a minimum of 75 years old and a maximum of 101 years! Not quite a true antique, but sure getting close.
