If you're a collector of Sherman jewelry, I don't need to tell you that pieces in his famous "siam red" color are the most sought after. If you're new to collecting Sherman, then here is your chance to add a valuable bracelet and Sherman earrings to your collection.
Though this bracelet is unsigned, it's definitely Sherman. It came my way via a retired jeweler who sold Sherman from his shop on Danforth Ave in Toronto from the 1950's onwards. He finally closed up his store a few years back and when I found him, he was selling off his remaining stock of jewelry, amongst which was a selection of Shermans, both signed and unsigned. The unsigned, as he told me, came with the Sherman tags when the Sherman salesman brought them to him but those tags have been lost over time.
But with or without tags, we know it's a Sherman from its design, the stones, the japan backing and above the all, the quality workmanship.
This gorgeous japan-backed 7 1/2" bracelet is 11/16" wide. It has 5 rows of clear swarovski siam red crystals alternating with siam red aurora borealis marquise stones. All stones are original and tight. Except for some tiny specks on one of the AB marquise stones, the AB is in great shape, as is the japan backing. The bracelet comes in a bracelet box bearing the sticker from Danwood Jewelers in Toronto.
Accompanying the bracelet is a delightful set of Siam red earrings that I've had for some time and have been hoping to combine with another Sherman piece. These are lovely match for the bracelet in terms of color and feature an intriguing combination of different cuts of stones. They are screw-on earrings with gold-plate backing and are signed "Sherman". They measure a nice 1/2" long by 3/8" wide ...quite demure.
