The lady who asked us to offer it for sale says it was passed on to her, amongst other jewels, that belonged to her mom. The history is her dad bought this for mom on a holiday in Spain over 50 years ago. We have no idea what he paid for it then, but let me tell you: it's very valuable now because of its age, rare design and high 18k gold content.

This superb bracelet weighs a whopping 87 grams. At the current price of gold, this bracelet is worth $2004 USD, and that's just to melt it down as a refiner would do. But what a horrible waste that would be! If you value gold jewelry and appreciate unique, vintage design, you'd never want to see this go to a gold refinery. So consider the details:

Weight: 87 grams of 18k yellow gold

Width: 1 3/8" or 3.5cms.

Thickness: 1/8"

Now take a look at the beautiful work on this bracelet: it has a soft brushed finish which has then been diamond-cut to bring sparkle out of the leafy etchings that run all around the bracelet. Look at the underside: the construction is amazing: quality workmanship all the way. Brightly polished 1/4" links are edged by a thick chain-like border on either side and braced twice down the center, making the bracelet semi-rigid and super strong. No wonder it still looks unworn. The wide clasp slips neatly into its closure and is secured with both a safety chain and figure 8 lock. Please enlarge all the photos to see all the details closeup.

There are some designer hallmarks on the clasp but we cannot recognize them given their Spanish origins. We have acid-tested the gold: we got readings for both 18k and 22k but we'll stick to the lower karat for accuracy.

I would love to purchase this bracelet for myself as I like large gold bracelets but I don't have anywhere to wear something that would do justice to Cleopatra! According to what I'm reading, the jewelry trend for 2010 is toward large, chunky bracelets and clampers. Well this will fit right in for those who prefer the quality, look, permanence and value of 18k gold. This is the jewelry of celebrities at a fraction of the price they would pay for a piece like this. Any celebrity would be proud to wear this bracelet.
