"Vintage MARGOT art-to-wear pieces are becoming harder to find on the market and are sought by serious collectors worldwide" states one of the sources I located while researching jewelry by Margot De Taxco. So it's exciting to have finally acquired one of her authentic (non reproduction) pieces to offer you here.
This rare Margot de Taxco bracelet, with its great arts and crafts look, is 6 3/4" long and comprised of 13 Greek key design links. The links are finished in soft yellow enamel that has a goldish glitter and they measure 3/8" long by 1/4' wide. Despite its age, the locking clasp is very secure and the original safety chain still intact.
Stamped on the back of one of the links is what collectors of Margot de Taxco jewelry look for: the Margot de Taxco name and the number 5403A. Margot consistently marked her jewelry with a design number and her all silver pieces were numbered 5100 through 5790. Considering the style and worn hallmark, it's likely this bracelet is from the 1950's. On the next link is stamped "Sterling Mexico" along with a well-worn emblem that is hard to make it out now.
This bracelet is still in very good condition with the expected wear to the silver itself and little to no damage to the yellow enamelling. That should come as no surprise since Margo de Taxco was known for her quality finishes.
This collectible weighs 16.83 grams. Knowing that this designer was best known for her pieces that combine silver and enamel, there should be no hesitation to add this bracelet to your Margot de Taxco collection today.
