We love Jabel rings! Known for their high-quality diamonds and beautiful designs, Jabel has been a name in the jewelry and diamond industry for over 85 years! Every piece is hand-assembled, with attention to detail cautiously being followed every step of the way! It's no wonder collectors snap these beauties up in a heartbeat!!
Here is a darling signed JABEL 14k diamond engagement ring dating from the mid to late 1940's, early 50's. It features a large, high-clarity central transitional-cut round brilliant cut diamond adorned on either side by more crystal clear single-cut diamonds. Soldered to the engagement ring is another ring - a glistening diamond band that is a near perfect match to the Jabel. This band is not hallmarked with the Jabel signature, so it can only be assumed the 2 were purchased separately and attached at a later time.
The main diamond measures 5.08 x 5.14mm with an estimated depth of 3.10mm, falling right around 0.52cts. Its clarity is stunning - easily VS2-Si1 or higher, and its color around I-J. The beautiful cut is transitional, moving away from an Old European to an early round brilliant, however, still with a very small culet. It is held strongly in place by 4 elegantly carved prongs and is clearly original to this ring.
The adorning single cut diamonds are beautiful too! So very crystal clear, again, they should not grade any lower than Si1, and are more likely VS1/VS2. They are G-H in color, with 2 measuring approximately 1.20mm each and the other 2 larger singles measuring 1.85mm or so each! They are some of the nicest single-cuts I've ever come across!!
The accompanying unsigned 14k band features 9 sparkling early round brilliant cut diamonds. They all measure on average 1.50-1.60mm for an estimated 0.15cts. They are matching in color & clarity, H-I and Si1.
Both rings are primarily 14k yellow gold, with touches here & there of 14k white gold (around the diamonds). The unsigned band has more gold to it than the Jabel, which must have been worn on its own or with another ring for quite some time before being soldered to this band. The rings could be separated if wanted, but not only do they look beautiful together, but being as the Jabel is thinner than the other, separation could weaken the gold.
The set is a currently a size 8.5 - 8.75 and is sizable (just don't let them cut into the signature!).
Another Jabel to add to our inventory, and perhaps to your collection!! She's a keeper - but are you surprised!?
