Those who are familiar with Jay Flex, another vintage designer who was producing jewelry in Canada around the same time as Gustave Sherman, will know that what set Jay Flex apart was their use of Sterling silver, not silver-plate, in their costume jewelry. The result is lovely costume jewelry made with a precious metal, thereby adding to its value.
This lovely 16" necklace is comprised of bright ruby red crystals in a combination of interesting geometric shapes in that 4 1/4" centerpiece. All stones are securely prong-set and the color varies from deep to light red. All crystals are clear; no cloudiness or dulling of any kind. The longest drop on the centerpiece is 7/8".
Overall, I'd describe this necklace as feminine and delicate-looking, but not delicately made. While Jay Flex has used sterling silver, the backing is a bright gold color and to the naked eye, shows very little to no wear.
If your taste in designer signed vintage costume jewelry is for the more graceful style of necklaces, this one is one to consider. It has everything a nice piece of vintage rhinestone jewelry should have: style, pretty design, popular color, superb construction, excellent materials and the designer's signature. You can't go wrong!
NOTE: Payment by cheque, money order or if in Canada, ONLINE INTERAC, is always preferred to PayPal especially on items where we invite your offers. Thanks.
