Featuring a beautiful young lady with gentle curls in an up-swept loose bun and a flower in her hair and Roman-styling clothing, this fantastic medium to high relief coral cameo measures a BIG 21.7mm long x 10.4mm wide for approximately 5 to 6 carats in weight. The coral is consistent in color across its face and shows distinctive wood grain-like striations found in natural coral. The lady does not have an up-turned or "pert" nose, which was a feature common in cameos made after the turn of the century, and she does not have any "habille" (jewelry within jewelry such as a diamond necklace on her neck), which is very common in Art Deco and newer cameos.

The cameo is very securely set in solid, heavy acid-tested 18kt white gold (unmarked, so tested by our gemologist) which is hand carved and features 2 old-mine cut diamonds above & below the cameo. These diamonds are approximately 2mm each with Si1/Si2 clarity and H-I color! They are tightly bead-set in the gold and are original to the piece. The overall weight of this collectible ring is 7.80 grams, with the coral weighing a good portion of that. The full length of the ring is 31.02mm and the width around 15mm (depending on where you measure from). The height of the ring from top of finger to top of cameo is approximately 8mm.

This is really a fabulous cameo ring, and to find one set in 18kt gold is not common. We date this piece mid-Victorian to early Art Nouveau, 1860 to 1890. The condition of the cameo is near-flawless with no damage, scratches or wear to it. The gold is also in great condition, very thick and solid with a lot of wear left in it. There is a slight hairline fracture on the underside of the ring which we've tried to show in our pictures. This is a VERY SMALL fracture that could be filled by a professional jeweler with ease. The ring is not in a compromised state at all, we just want to let you know the full condition of it, which is above excellent given her age!
