There's a little bit of a story behind this ring. Featured in its center is a glorious 0.50ct (new appraisal)/0.48ct (appraisal for loose diamond) older round "American" cut diamond. This diamond actually came to us in a severely damaged ring from the late 1940s-50s, and the damage was just too extensive to repair. However, somehow the diamond had remained intact and perfect, so with a lot of caution, this beauty was carefully removed from its original setting. However, too beautiful to leave sitting on its own, we went searching to find an even more beautiful true vintage estate setting to re-set the diamond in.

And this is what we ended up with: an exquisite solid 18k white gold diamond mount signed "COAST" boasting an additional 10 (0.20ctw approximately) VS1-VS2 clarity, F-G color diamonds that are an incredibly perfect match for the main diamond.

Before having the main diamond re-set, we had it evaluated by our GIA Graduate Gemologist who immediately commented on its early cut, and its fantastic clarity. The diamond, all on its own evaluated out at over $1,700, with VS clarity, H color, Class 3a Fair Medium "old American cut" and weighing 0.48cts. With this new appraisal, the main diamond is graded at 0.50ct, with VS1 clarity and G color, with a "GOOD" cut.

Now, in its setting, the overall carat weight of this very fine, valuable ring falls at 0.70ct of extremely clean VS1-VS2, F-G color diamonds. The fire in this ring is glorious, and with the addition of the accent diamonds being 'bead-set', the fine detailing around them makes them glisten even more. The gallery of the ring is an underpass/overpass bridge design that tapers in towards the main diamond which is prong-set.

With the history behind this stunner, what you are in effect getting here is a 'new' ring made from estate, vintage materials. On its own, it has never been worn as it currently is, and the mount we purchased looks like it was hardly worn originally too.
