Picture of elegance! Simply, this is a beautiful ring in all aspects, from its darling rose-colored genuine tourmaline to its unique rounded-square shaped 14k yellow gold band. Stamped '14k' and trademarked with just the letter "Z" inside a square, this endearing solid 14k gold ring is an estate piece in very fine condition.
The center piece is a glorious bezel set rose-colored genuine tourmaline (tested/confirmed with our gem tester), measuring 8 x 6.7mm (digital caliper measurement) for an approximate carat weight of 1.30ct. Being bezel set, it is more than likely slightly higher in carat weight than stated due to not being able to get under the bezel, but by calculation for the measurements taken, it is approximately 1.30ct. As can be seen in the pictures, the tourmaline "plays" between a beautiful purplish-pink hue in lower light to a soft rose, with a slight golden overtone in brighter light.
Off-setting the tourmaline are 2 very fine round brilliant cut diamonds of approximately 3-4 points each (0.06 - 0.08ctw). These diamonds are clean & bright, with excellent Si1 clarity and white H color. Bead set into the 14k gold, the diamonds are surrounded by a design that looks like a cross between a Hawaiian flower motif and gold nuggets. It does not however have the "chunky" look that comes with nugget designs.
Finishing off the look of the ring is the aforementioned rounded-square band. The sides of the ring lie flat against your finger, which is EXTREMELY comfortable (more so than round bands), and then it rounds out again along the bottom. A very solid 14k gold ring, this stunner weighs a considerable 7.3 grams and is clearly stamped 14k, alongside the "Z" signature. It is currently a US size 5 1/2 to 5 3/4.
Estate wise, we give this immaculate ring an 8 out 10, as there is a TINY "chip" out of the end of the bezel set tourmaline. However, it doesn't look to be from wear, but perhaps from its original cutting. Due to the location of the "chip", it doesn't seem possible that one could have chipped the stone at that point, especially with the bezel around it, hence why it is most likely an natural flaw that the cutter cut around in order not to jeopardize the carat weight of the tourmaline. Again, this is a SMALL flaw, not apparent to the naked eye without really searching for it. Even in our pictures, which are highly magnified, it isn't noticeable without a good search.
This is actually one of our favorite rings, perhaps because of its elegance and rare design, plus the gorgeous colors in the tourmaline! A keeper for sure, add this one to you collection today!
