I wore this charming 14k yellow gold Ruby Necklace to a celebratory dinner one evening and all the ladies eyes were on my neck. I'm not kidding! I received so many compliments on, and questions about it I was tickled pink... or is that tickled ruby LOL! I was even more delighted when we got it appraised in June 2009, when gold was even lower than it is now, and found that its "new" replacement value would be $3525 CAD, or on today's exchange, at $3400 USD. Wow!

This hand-assembled, custom-made necklace dating back to the late 60's or early 70's, has 29 claw-set, pear-shaped natural rubies prettily surrounded by 14k yellow gold leaves. The deep red/purple rubies measure 7mm X 5mm X 2.6mm, for a total ruby weight of 21.17cts.

The overall length of the necklace is 18". The centerpiece runs for 4 1/4" across the front. The full drop, from the top of the centerpiece to the bottom of longest drop is 1 3/4". The multitude of 14k gold prongs around the rubies add tons of glitter. It's a real sparkler!

Closing with a secure "S" clasp, the necklace has an overall weight of 11.5 grams. The design is unique and very eye-catching, as my experience showed.
