Antique Victorian Child in Garden Cameo Brooch in Gold Filled Setting

This is a very sweet antique Victorian period cameo depicting a bare bottomed child sitting among flowers and looking at a book. This is an unusual image and is very well carved.The setting is unmarked but tested as gold filled. It is a simple band setting embellished with balls of metal on each corner point. The brooch has the old T hinge and C clasp.

The brooch weighs 7.7 gr. It measures just over 1.5" tall by 1.25" across. It is a deep setting up to .375" thick.

Condition: the setting is intact but shows signs of wear. There is a little silver solder visible where it appears the hinge may have been repaired in the past. there is an internal hairline visible in the cameo when it is held up to the light. This line is visible from the back but not from the front and does not appear to go all the way through. Such lines are very common within old cameos as they age and dry out. It is not at this time a crack.

This is an especially charming scene, and note the chubby exposed bottom of the child. It's a nice size for a cameo too, not too large or too small. I estimate that it dates from circa 1850s.
