This lovely antique German china head doll stands 23" tall. She has a simple high brow hair style and a very pleasant facial expression.

She has antique clothing consisting of a faded cotton dress with lace trim on the pockets, bodice, neckline, and cuffs. The dress was once light blue, but has faded to beige. She has a handkerchief embroidered with the initial G in one pocket. Her camisole top is fine cotton and buttons on each shoulder. The pantaloons are plain but her petticoat is a marvel of hand sewing skill - with a hand made zig zag trim inserted between the pleated rows. Only the stockings are of more recent vintage.

Her body is a simple home made cloth body stuffed with cotton. It has age stains and wear typical for its age - see photos. The hands are especially well made.

The shoulder head is in good condition. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. The only minor defect is a little wear to the black of her hair on a couple of the high points, and a small patch on her chest where the glaze didn't cover the porcelain completely - a minor manufacturing defect.

She is lovely and simple. An excellent example of her type from circa 1870s.
