SALE Victorian Silver Set Carved Ivory & Wood Birds & Flowers Brooch

This is a very unusual large antique Victorian period brooch of cared ivory and wood in an unmarked sterling silver (tested) setting. The center carving is of light reddish brown hard wood or nut shell carved as a bouquet of flowers. The surrounding base material is ivory carved with 3 birds and 2 flowers in a ring around the center. The setting is a collar of silver with a T hinge and C clasp.

The brooch weighs 9,6 gr. It measures 1.5" across by 1.625" tall. The center floral carving is .75" by .625". The brooch is .385" thick, excluding the pin stem.

Condition is good. There is some minor discoloration around the edges of the ivory visible from the back, probably old adhesive residue.

I haven't seen another like this brooch. Very unusual and well carved.
