This is a beautiful late Victorian period mother of pearl brooch carved as a flying dove against a background of flowers. The carving is slightly domed, following the natural curve of the shell. There is a single red dot for the dove's eye.

The brooch measures 2" long by 1.125" tall. It has an old brass T hinge and C clasp.

Condition: There is a tiny amount of clear glue residue visible next to the clasp on the back. There is one possible chip off the edge on the wider end, but uncertain whether this is really a chip of part of the carving.

This is a lovely sentimental piece, and a fine example of good quality mother of pearl carving.
