This is an exceptionally fine antique Victorian period portrait cameo of a distinguished gentleman, set in 14K yellow gold (unmarked but tested). The man is in profile, facing to the viewer's right. He has side parted hair, large mutton chop side burns, mustache, collar and bow tie, and a long aquiline nose. The carving detail is very well done. A great deal of attention was paid to the texture of the hair and the shaping of the ear. Clearly a masterfully carved cameo.

The cameo is held in its original 14K yellow gold deep setting, well fitted to the egg shaped cameo. The pin stem tests as 10K, but is believed to be original.

The brooch weighs 30 gr. It measures 1.625" x 2" x.5".

Condition: Some grain lines are visible in the cameo in the upper right quadrant when it is held up to the light, but I do not consider this to be damage.. There is a little dirt in his facial hair that will probably clean away. Overall condition is very good.
