Antique Victorian Shoes for Doll or Salesman Sample 3.75" Long

Oh these are simply marvelous! Based on the style I judge that they date from circa 1870s when heeled boots of this sort became popular. I am not sure whether they were made to be doll shoes or as display samples for shoes. Certainly they are too small to have been worn by even a child.

The sole of the shoes measure 3.75" long from the back of the shoe to the toe. The heel curves inward quite a bit and the measurement from the bottom of the heel to the toe is 3.25" long. The sole of the shoe is a very narrow .875" wide. The shoes are 5.5" tall. They measure 4.5" around the ankle area.

The shoes are leather with wooden heels. The upper leather is colored red and the lower is black. There is red furry fringed band around the top edge and a black pom pom on the toe. The laced opening up the front is trimmed with a saw toothed edged band of red leather. There is not much lacing still present, but apparently a heavy thread cord was once used for lacing. There is a cord binding the 2 shoes together in the back, which leads me to believe that they were never used on a doll before.

Condition: Color loss most noticeable on the black areas of the leather. Missing laces. Leather is all intact though.

If you happened to have a large bisque or French Fashion doll who could wear such snazzy boots these would be perfection. They would also make awesome display items.
