This is a delightfully unique brooch in the form of a winged cupid, standing on a ball and holding a dolphin like fish aloft. The cupid is the centerpiece set on a flat silver diamond shaped plate, the edges of which are turned up in scrolled curlicues. Cupid is also flanked by 6 silver balls, 3 to each side.

There are no markings but the metal tests positive for high grade silver content equivalent to sterling grade. This is obviously a hand made piece. Based on the T hinge, flat C clasp and figural style of the cupid I estimate it to date from circa late 1800s to early 1900s, very much of the Arts and Crafts period and style.

The brooch measures 2" x 1.5". It weighs 14.4 gr.

Condition is good. Since it is a hand made piece there are some irregularities in the formation of the scroll work. Only minor expected wear is visible. The flat silver background of the brooch is difficult to polish and is a bit dull.
