This is a highly unusual Victorian period stone brooch. The large domed ovoid stone has a very organic appearance. Speculation is that it might be a type of agate that is fossilized coral or other agatized organic material.

The setting is gold filled pressed metal to simulate Etruscan style wire work and granulation. The backing is closed. It has a C clasp and T hinged closure.

The brooch measures 2.25" x 1.25". Condition is good.
