This is one of the interesting older vintage ethnic dolls I currently have available. This man stands 9" tall. He appears to represent a man from one of the Middle Eastern countries. His body is entirely wood, with simple joints at the hips and shoulders. The carving is simple but well executed. I was able to remove the pants to get a better view of the body construction. The arms, legs and torso are all slightly modeled. The face and head are realistically carved. the hair, lips, eyes and eyebrows are detailed with paint.

He is wearing hand stitched clothing in cotton that consists of very full white pants that gather at the ankle, a pale turquoise colored tunic, and a short black silk vest. He has a blue and white striped head wrap around his head.

Condition: There are some stains on his tunic, and one small pencil tip sized hole in the back of the tunic. I was able to remove the pants to wash them, but have left the remaining stitched on clothing alone. There is a small piece of silver paper stuck to the doll's head under the head wrap - unknown purpose.

He is a nicely made and intriguing ethnic doll. I wish I knew more about his origins.
