AT AUCTION Antique Victorian Silver Maltese Cross Brooch

This is a lovely antique Victorian brooch in the form of a Maltese cross. It is unmarked but tests positive for silver content of at least 800 silver content, but judged to be below 925 sterling grade silver. It weighs 16.9 g. The cross measures 1.5" square and is 2.5 mm thick. The pin stem and C clasp are original.

This brooch is beautifully engraved in a geometric border design, a flower in each quadrant, and fine mother of pearl center cabochon. The center stone has a pronounced chatoyant cats eye effect. The cabochon is 9.5 mm in diameter.

This is a beautiful and distinctive piece of jewelry.
