This is a wonderful antique miniature trunk or chest, and a great accessory for a fine French or German bisque fashion doll from the late 1800s. The trunk must be German made since some printed lettering visible under the paper covering on the lid appears to be in German. The box has a wooden base, and is decoratively covered in paper and fabric lined.

The trunk measures 4.75" x 2.75" x 2.5". The exterior is covered with brown paper and has a simulated decorative banding and a center scroll on the top. The front face of the lid has a pair of decorative pediment scrolls on either side. The front of the trunk's base has a metal lock plate (no key), rectangular with fleur-de-lis finials on either end. The bottom is covered with marbleized paper and a very old sticker.

The interior is luxuriously lined in tufted dark red silk in both the top and bottom of the trunk. The buttons are covered in scarlet silk thread. The sides of the interior are covered in scarlet red paper. The hinge is burgundy linen.

Condition: There is general scuffing of the exterior paper covering, especially on the edges. There are a couple areas of paper loss on the top of the lid, revealing the lettering on the base paper.
