This hefty Mexican sterling silver brooch features an ethnic Indian carved green stone face in the center surrounded by a wide decoratively cut out silver frame. It is marked only MEXICO SILVER, predating the later Mexican standardized marks. The green stone is often called Mexican jade, but I believe it is actually green agate. The brooch weighs 42.1 gr and measures an impressive 3.125" x 2.5". Condition is good. This is a real statement piece. Well crafted and weighty.

This is a great early piece of Mexican silver. It is stamped only SILVER MADE IN MEXICO. The brooch is in the form of a perched parrot bird with a single turquoise cabochon for the eye. It is a nice solid piece with good weight. The brooch weighs 29.3 gr. It measures 3.5" tall x 1.125" across. It has a simple hand crafted flat C clasp. Condition is good. This fine early vintage pair of Mexican earrings are faintly marked under the screw pads SILVER MEXICO. I tested the metal and in my opinion the silver content is less than sterling grade, probably coin grade silver between 800-900 in content. The earring screw backs are not testing as silver and are probably alpaca, aka nickel. The stone is the color of jade but has not been tested to confirm. This is an amusing demi-parure set of Mexican sterling silver (marked) jewelry consisting of a large pendant brooch and matching earrings all shaped as Holstein cows.
