This fine old piggy is marked 925 for sterling silver content. I estimate that it dates from circa 1900. It has a bail loop at the top for a chain. The pig measures a substantial 2.5" long x 1.25" tall (excluding bail) x .625" thick. It is a hollow piece, thus not too heavy for its size, and weighs 15 gr. This brooch is a whopper. So large that I speculate that it might have once been a box lid that was converted into a brooch - though I am not certain of this. It measures 3.125" in diameter and is almost 1" thick excluding the catch. It weighs 41.8 gr. The large amber colored faceted stone in the center is 1" in diameter and approximately .5" thick.
