Currier & Ives "Mississippi in Time of Peace" Tin Tray

This is a beautiful tin tray recently acquired from an estate. It is 14" x 11 1/2" . It features a scene from an original hand-colored Currier & Ives lithograph entitled "The Mississippi in Time of Peace". Life on the river in the first post war year. Again the Mississippi is a unifying river, linking North and South, making the nation one. Gleaming white, twin-stacked steamboats travel the river along with typical flat boats. The tray has one small dent on the top right, but hardly detracts from its beauty. There are several indentions around the inner edge that appear to be factory made. The tray was produced for Sunshine Biscuits and is dated 1978.
