Jessica McClintock became famous in the early 60's-70's for designing Romantic prairie style dresses, popular with hippies, and still to this day a true cult fashion and highly collectable. but a peignoir set? not many. so I am please to offer this incredible set, believed to be mid 70s; worthy of the finest collection, and truly luxurious!

True to her roots, the style of the nightgown has a touch of prairie. All a very heavy satin, shimmery and smooth in cream with a beautiful print of pink cabbage roses. The gown has thin fabric straps, the top of the nightgown a vee neckline. Down the center of the bodice are two rows of sheer, see through lace with a beautiful satin ribbon down the center. A second ribbon ties in a bow at the waist line.

The nightgown has a slightly dropped waist and a small amount of gathering to give it a pretty fullness. Long to the floor, it could very easily be worn as a dress, a slip not necessary as the fabric is heavy enough.

The matching peignoir is just as lovely, in the same fabric of cabbage roses. It has a huge portrait collar, edged with the same antique cream lace. Teeny tiny mother of pearl buttons close the robe down the front, and it has long sleeves. Little gathers at the yoke are concealed under the collar, but it too has a pretty fullness, and there is A slouchy pocket on each hip in the front. A truly rare and incredible set!

Label ~ cream satin, gray lettering - Gunne Sax by Jessica McClintock. 100% acetate. Dry Clean. Made in USA. a vintage size 5, please let the measurements be your guide, it was a wee bit large on the mannequin:

Bust ~ 36 Waist~ 37 hips ~ 62 arm opening ~15 length - shoulder to hem ~57 sweep of hem ~ 74

Peignoir Arm openings - 22 Back, shoulders, arm seam to seam - 16

Condition ~ Amazing. The only evidence I can detect that this was ever even worn is the ribbon bow in front, a wee bit wrinkled/ worn but still pretty. Please note: this is from an estate and appears to have been dry cleaned. I did not wash this set, to risk ruining the fabric which is like new. We do not have a good dry cleaners., should you determine it needs re-cleaning or detect any odor ( I don't) will have to leave the next cleaning to you.
