These vintage late 50's early 60s are just getting so hard to find.. and this one exquisite! From my "Austin Estate".. i've held this one back a bit.. i'm sure it was one of the first gifts from a loving husband to his wife. Each time he traveled, he brought her gifts. This appears to be one of her early ones. And sadly.. all her items were impeccable.. barely worn. This one has a damaged peignoir, highly unusual for items of her's.

The nightgown is perfect. beautiful. unique.. one of a kind! All silky black nylon, it is completely covered with ultra soft sheer black chiffon. a bit longer than average.. its waltz length.

Four inch wide straps of double chiffon scoop down to create the yoke, the straps and yoke entirely double chiffon.. BUT.. the are covered with beautiful ruffles of the chiffon.. so very frilly! Five rows of this beautiful ruffle design! Five little embroidered pink rose applique's accent the front of the gown.

The body of the nightgown is all silky nylon, completely covered with the sheer black chiffon.. with more of the ruffle trim from the bodice repeated at the hemline.. a most extraordinary nightgown!

As mentioned above.. this is a set.. however it is being sold as a "nightgown" with a free matching peignoir so you can decide if the robe can be repaired, worn as is.. or if you have the heart ~ to be discarded. I can't do it.. its simply beautiful.

the robe is all sheer black chiffon and has a little lace collar. A round yoke is accented with a wide ruffle of black lace. The little floral applique's of the gown are repeated on the yoke of the peignoir. Elbow length sleeves are pretty little puffs.. with elastic then a ruffle of double chiffon. Again, beautiful.

But.. the back of the peignoir has a hole, 3" by 2" round. the edges of the hole are stiff.. i suspect it was possibly ironed which melted the nylon.. there are a few smaller holes near it. Again, this will be included free.

Note: Vintage sizing is NOT standardized, please compare these measurements to something comfortable that you already own, Shown on a size 6 mannequin over 6 ft tall.

Condition ~ Nightgown is in very good condition with no apparent flaws. there are looped chiffon belt loops, it probably originally had a black satin ribbon belt. Free peignoir has satin ribbon closure at the neck, the black has turned burgundy as common with age, as well as the holes mentioned above.
