SALE Vintage D. Catherine Porter Millinery Santa Ana Hat with Feathers and Flocked Netting

This sweet hat has two labels, one which says "D. Catherine Porter Millinery Santa Ana" and the second which says simply "Addie Ann California". A search for either, for both, turned up not a thing, but the shaped felt and swoop of the feathers along with the flocked netting suggest this to be from the mid to late 1940's, or perhaps into the early 50's.

In addition, this features a wonderful wired-with-pearl-accents 8-pointed star felt applique design on the left front. It is coppery toned, the felt base that it is on is the same ivory as the hat, with a layer of cocoa felt inbetween to add depth. It is a 3-d design element, it comes to a point in it's center, a little over an inch deep, actually.

This has three narrow feathers; one is bent, but still seems quite attached, we will v e r y carefully pack this to avoid any damage in transit to her new home, btw.

This measures about 21" around the grosgrain ribbon band; there is also a black elastic attached to the sides which would slip under a long hair style nicely. There is also a small felt bow across the back of the hat, too.

The netting is loosley draped around the edge of the hat, it looks as if it were tacked at the sides at one time; we are leaving her as found for her new owner to decide how she prefers it to be draped, rather than us tacking it otherwise.

This is in wonderful condition (please see all photographs). with only a couple of tiny tears in the netting; the wiring looks quite secure on the front star, and remember the one bent feather, as well.

We're not sure exactly HOW we'll secure the hat in a box so the feathers stay perky, but we will be super careful to keep her safe!
